The Maropeng Museum is the official center of the world heritage site – the Cradle of Mankind. Here you will travel back in time from the creation of our universe, about 14 billion years ago, to the present day and beyond. Not far from the museum are the caves of Sterkfontein – one of the most famous paleontological sites in the world. Here, in 1936, were found the remains of ancient people, living from 3.5 to 1.5 million years ago. The caves of Sterkfontein are declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
